This is a traveling exhibit from Canadian Art Cards and is part of their Bi-national 1812 Art Collection – a lasting legacy project. The art work depicts the effects of war on communities and the local population. The exhibit is open daily and is included in your admission to Ball’s Falls Conservation Area. Two hundred year ago President Madison declared War with Britain which launched naval and land battles along the border of Upper and Lower Canada as well as with Britain’s Indian allies.

This art exhibit portrays life in Upper Canada prior to the war and then illustrates the challenges and struggles of living through the ensuing events. The Battles that took place are counterpoint to stories of marauding and stories of heroism. The emerging communities in Upper Canada were small but fully engaged in supplying, defending and supporting the war effort on land, on sea, and sometimes on both sides. This exhibit provides a visual history of the War of 1812 by historical and contemporary artists.
