The Burial of Brock

This date marks the Bicentennial of the Burial of Sir Isaac Brock who was killed in the Battle of Queenston Heights. The Friends of Fort George will be doing a full re-enactment of the funeral and burial of Brock.

October 14
12:00 noon - reenactors will form up at Fort George to march down Byron to Prideaux to Victoria and then along Queen Street. The procession will stop at the Old Court House for a commemoration ceremony. The caskets for Brock and Macdonell will then be placed on the horse-drawn carts to be accompanied to St. Mark's Church. At the Church the "Brock" bell will toll followed by a hymn sung by the St. Mark's Choir. The procession will then proceed to Fort George where a Drumhead service will take place at the fort bastion, where Brock was buried in October 1812. Cannons will be fired from both Fort George and Fort Niagara.
The day commemorates the lasting peace and friendship between Canada and the United States.
