Visitors will see transformed galleries when the four exhibits open Sept. 13 in the Buffalo History Museum, One Museum Court on Nottingham Court at Elmwood Avenue.

There will be two new War of 1812-themed exhibits, an updated Native American Gallery and the newly-installed Buffalo State Museum Studies Gallery.

“By Fire & Sword” in the Erie County Room will be the museum’s most interactive exhibit ever, with military re-enactments and green screen technology. “Star Spangled Nation” in the State Court Room, an American Society of Marine Artists touring exhibit making its first stop, features paintings of the war by contemporary artists.

The John R. Oishei Native American Gallery, a permanent installation, features a walk-in longhouse and Seneca leader Red Jacket’s treasured peace medal. The Museum Studies Gallery, developed by SUNY Buffalo State’s Museum Studies Graduate Program, will debut with “Lost & Found,” an exhibit highlighting the area’s endangered architectural treasures and the efforts to save them.
