| April 10, 2012 Two new mascots will become a part of the War of 1812 bicentennial celebrations.Pack and Satch will be used to help engage students participating in Passport Niagara. Twenty one year old Asha Green a Niagara College Art and Design student created the mascots, one a backpack the other a satchel, the two things a soldier would carry. |
She says while she did a lot of research on the War of 1812, her younger brothers were also an influence on her final design.
Passport Niagara was created by the Historic Niagara Education committee to teach students from grades 3 to 8 about the war, in the classroom and at museums and historic sites across the region. |
