BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Western New York and Southern Ontario will spend much of 2014 remembering the War of 1812.

The Niagara 1812 Legacy Council announced its list of events for this year, which marks the 200th anniversary of the end of the war. The final year was when momentum shifted toward the American side in its battle against the British.

The Buffalo History Museum will have exhibits about the war.

Executive Director Melissa Brown said, “For the History Museum this year, the 1814 year acknowledging that history, we will be running our exhibit “By Fire and Sword,” that will continue, and that will be up through the end of the year.”

There will be several reenactments this year, including the Battle of Lundy’s Lane and the Battle of Chippawa.
