Legacy Council is Announcing Signature 2012 Canadian Events May 6, 2011

NIAGARA REGION, ON– Queenston Heights won’t only be home to Brock’s monument on Friday, May 6th, as the Niagara 1812 Bicentennial Legacy Council will announce the 2012 Signature Canadian events at the prestigious site’s restaurant.

The Legacy Council is the liaison for the local groups and partners involved in the Bicentennial from the Niagara Region and the Niagara Frontier and act as a conduit responsible for the marketing and coordination for those areas. The announcement signifies that the anniversary of the War of 1812 is near, and the years of planning the commemoration is coming to fruition.

 

Each municipality in the Niagara Region have dedicated 1812 committees and citizens planning events from re-enactments to hockey tournaments—some being expected to draw crowds in the thousands.

“These six events are going to be the larger-scale festivities, amongst hundreds of events throughout 2012,” says Brian Merrett, CEO of the Legacy Council. “We are excited for the public to hear what’s in-store, as we are getting that much closer to the big commemoration and celebrations,” Merrett states.

When: Friday, May 6, 2011. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., presentation begins at 11:00 a.m.
